Joint Rivers Commission, Bangladesh - JRC

Joint Rivers Commission from its inception in 1972 is working with the neighboring countries on management, sharing and uses of water resources of the international / transboundary rivers flowing through Bangladesh. Pursuant to The Joint Declaration of the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh the Indo-Bangladesh Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) was constituted, under a Statute in March, 1972.

According to the Statute, the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Water Resources is the Chairman of Joint Rivers Commission, Bangladesh. The Commission has three members from which one works as an executive member and carries out all duties and responsibilities of the Secretariat of Joint Rivers Commission.

Till today several meetings on different level were held under the commission regarding water sharing, flood forecasting and warning, local problems on transboundary rivers including 35 Nos. ministerial level meeting.
