Dr C S Karim (Choudhury Sazzadul Karim) was born in a
respectable Muslim family in the District of Noakhali in 1949. His
father is late C F Karim and mother is late Mohabbata Karim.
Dr Karim obtained his BSc (Honours) and MSc degrees
in Physics from the Department of Physics, University of Dhaka in 1969
and 1970 respectively. In the year 1977 he had his PhD in Nuclear
Engineering. Just after the completion of his PhD he joined with
Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) as a Senior Scientific
Officer. During his long career in BAEC, Dr Karim held different
important/key positions including Director of Nuclear Power and Energy
Division and Member of Physical Science. He became the Chairman of BAEC
on 19 May 2005 and continued till 16 November 2006. During his BAEC
tenure Dr Karim was actively associated with and contributed to Energy
Planning, Rural Energy Planning Study, Renewable Energy and Nuclear
Power Planning. As a nuclear scientist Dr C S Karim earned a good
reputation through the successful completion of a number of important

Assignments
Dr C S Karim was sworn
in as an Advisor of the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh on 18 January
2007. He took over the portfolios of the Ministry of Agriculture and the
Ministry of Water Resources. |
